On the fourth Saturday of each January, the dead grass of Mt. Wakakusa is burned in an annual festival known as Yamayaki.

In Japanese “Yama” means “Mountains”. And “Yamayaki” means “to burn mountains” in Japanese.
After setting the fire to the mountain called “Wakakusayama”, they start the fireworks.
